IMO revised guidelines: Sewage treatment plants
IMO revised guidelines on implementation of effluent standards and performance tests for Sewage Treatment Plants
Interpretation MPC 88 regarding application of Resolution MEPC.159(55) was issued by IACS in February 2007 and approved by MEPC 56 in July 2007. The main part of MPC 88 is quoted below.
Quote
For application of Resolution MEPC.159(55), the phrase “installed onboard a ship on or after 1 January 2010″ shall be interpreted as follows:
(a) For new ships, installations onboard ships the keels of which are laid or which are at a similar stage of construction on or after 1 January 2010.
(b) For existing ships, new installations with a contractual delivery date, the actual delivery of the equipment to the ship on or after 1 January 2010.
The above interpretation is explained as follows:
(a) For new ships (the keels of which are laid or which are at a similar stage of construction on or after 1 January 2010)
MEPC.159(55) applies to all treatment plants installed onboard the ship.
(b) For existing ships (the keels of which are laid or which are at a similar stage of construction before 1 January 2010)
MEPC.159(55) applies to new installations with a contractual delivery date to the ship on or after 1 January 2010 or, in the absence of a contractual delivery date, the actually delivery of the equipment to the ship on or after 1 January 2010.
